Long Overdue
Well well, it has been awhile since I posted and alot has happened. Ill try to be swift and maybe again I will not. I have started training new drivers the ways of driving a big truck over the road. When I get a new student they have had exactly 3 weeks total of learning how to drive the truck. This is the bare basics to get them their CDL. It is only for the patient and tactful person.
I got a gentleman named "J" 5 weeks ago straight off the yard in Dallas where I work at. He knew how to shift and turn a truck, that's it. it is my job to teach him everything else that he will need to know in a 5 week span to where he can drive the truck with no supervision other than himself. That is a task I now see is dang near impossible. He now knows how to drive in all terrains and weather as we have nearly hit every state in the lower 48 in these last 5 weeks. He got the idea of what the coloring book is for and how you can get in deep trouble if it isnt colored properly.
He has pulled in, backed in, and side parked nearly every chance he could, realizes he hates with a passion mountains and NY city, hehe. I think he will do fine.
Living in a 8x8ft living area for 5 weeks can be a bit touchy. But we managed with only a few bumps and bruises.
He has caught on pretty fast and he will do just fine. After I drop him off this friday back at the yard he will take 5 days off then come back for another 4 weeks with another trainer to fine tune his skills.
I am pooped after running 3 days hard to get from LA, CA to RockyMount, NC. Ill have to finish this later, sorry all. I just cant get my head into this.
