Woe is Me...
Well well. I got my truck back Thursday night. they said it was now fixed. But after talking to the tech who actually did the work, it was no where near done but Caterpillar said since it passed the tests (barely) it was to be released. I guess when the owner of the company you work for has a nice chunk of stock in a company, things get done the way you want. But then again, I could be wrong. I have a Kenworth T2000 with a 435hp caterpillar engine. It is well known across the board the regen system known as the DPF is crap. Thats what broke on the truck last weekend. Now today I left Elko,Nv and headed towards Boise,Id and guess what... Yup, the same error message popped up. PID 064 Unknown Engine. That part went bad. Well fo course, if you don't fix what made the first one bad, each adn every one you replace will keep failing. So here I sit in Boise and my truck won't get finished until tuesday. So ill be down for a total of 10 days. I think I will be turning my truck in when I get back to Dallas.
I have to admit, Stevens keeps there trucks maintained very well but the growing discontent from driver, alot of the lease drivers who pay for their trucks yet will never own them. We might get break down pay for our downtime but thats only to cover the payment of the truck. They are going to get there money. So I might be trying to either get a truck of my own without a Caterpillar engine or downgrading from the new truck to an older one without a DFP regen system. Something has to give, it won't be me and my family hurting. They don't pay me for that.
So here I sit in hotel room where I KNOW they won't cover the cost 100% even though it was the only one near the repair facilty. SO there is another way I will get the shaft and come out of my pocket for a truck that I lease adn the leasing company can't even keep their trucks operable due to all the problems. Guess we will see what's up come Monday. I'll post more as I get the urge during the weekend.
