Truck Drivers
So, to day driving I hear this lady in the WalMart where i was restocking my truck with food, plus the new things I will need for puppy care, when I overhear a person talking about how truck drivers are morons and a few other things. I had to bite my lip, but as many out there know me, it didn't last. There is one thing that I have grown to respect and that is the people who drive big trucks.
No matter what kind of big truck you see or where you see them, they are out there doing one thing, helping others in some way or another. Picture this, if there were no more shoe salesmen, life would go on. No more people to mow your lawn, that is ok too. What if there were no more tellers at banks, well we would be ok but it would be a learning curve talking to robots or atm's all the time. However, if there were no truck drivers, we would be tossed back into the stone age. unless you are 100% self sufficient then something you have was brought to you by a truck. Your food, clothing, gas, every piece to build your house, your car, even the roads that go to your place of work. Everything was brought by a truck somehow. Medical supplies, dental, everything you have. So why be so asinine as to say we are morons?
We as truck drivers make thousands of decisions a day, tens of thousands. We don't just hold a steering wheel. We decide if our speed based on road conditions, weather, weight of our truck, all kinds of things. Whats takes you 200 feet to stop takes us over 1200 feet. Your 2ton vehicle is nothing compared to 40 tons. That's 80,000lbs of weight that will not stop like you wish it would. So why do you cut us off and slam on the brakes? If you see a dangerous truck driver call their company, the police, someone. They do not need to be driving if they are careless and dangerous on top of that. I as a driver call companies to let them know their drivers are to fast or dangerously driving. We all have to look out for others around us, big and small. So please, be a bit more nice.
Flashing your brights when a truck passes you actually blinds us temporarily. Simply turn off your lights and then back on a few times, we get that a whole lot easier. Also please try to not pass on our rights, we can't see you. We will get back over as fast as we can, if we linger then come over and most of the times, we will see that and get over, a slight inconvenience to you having to go back left again but can save a major wreck. Thank you.
This was just something i had cooking in my head, there are more to my ranting but it is late and I am tired, but rest assured, more will come later. You be safe and I'll catch up on late promises another day. G'night.
